Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well.

I have some good and bad news. The bad news is that my current website and store provider just isn't cutting it anymore. They recently "upgraded" their system which is now full of bugs and is double the cost! I refuse to pay for something that does not work correctly. So, I'll be closing the store temporarily... 

Which brings me to the good news! I will be building an all-new, feature-packed store for you. Hopefully, when all is said and done, it will be a billion times better than the current store, with lots of fun benefits for you! You know what else this means?!

Why am I closing the store, instead of leaving it open? I need to devote my free time to getting the new store ready. Plus, at some point I am going to have to close my account with my current provider, and that might have to happen before the new site is launched.

In the meantime, I will still be working on filling any Magical Musings wishlist orders, promoting and making more Beach Daze, filling retail store orders, and working on the fall collection (which you are going to love!). So there will be plenty of Lac Attack to go around!

I appreciate your understanding and patience during the process. I am going to try my hardest to get everything switched and running as soon as humanly possible!

Hi all! This post contains some important information about today's restock, as well as voting information about the Fanspiration Contest!

Fanspiration Contest

I want to thank each and every person who submitted an idea to the Fanspiration Contest. I am so happy with the turnout and I love the thought and creativity that went in to each submission. Voting is now open for the contest. You can either vote by "liking" an entry in the Facebook album, or by filling out this form.

Votes are due this Friday May 24 at 5:00pm EST. 

Winners will be announced Saturday May 25.

Restock Information
The next restock is today, Wednesday, May 22, at 7:00pm EST. The restock will include

• Spring Fling: full and mini individuals
• Please note: these minis are "normal" mini size bottles, unlike the larger Magical Musings minis. They hold 5ml of polish.

Summer Fanspiration Contest

EDIT: The Fanspiration Contest results are in! Thank you again to everyone who participated and voted, I loved seeing all of the creative ideas you came up with! I decided, ultimately, that the votes would determine the final winner, without any input from me. So without further ado, the results are as follows:

Lately I've needed a little bit of cheering up. So I thought, what better way to brighten up my life than to start thinking about the summer collection?! I got to thinking, and I decided I wanted to involve all of you in the process. I really and truly appreciate all of the support you have given to Lac Attack over the past year and I want to give back to you.

So what does this all mean??

Spring Fling!

Happy Spring from Lac Attack! Spring might just be my favorite season - so we are introducing 6 new shades to celebrate:

• Puddle Jumping: inspired by the famous April showers, gray skies and blue raindrops, Puddle Jumping is a medium-light gray creme with tiny indigo flakes.
• Garden Party: you can't have April showers without May flowers! Garden Party is inspired by the floral explosion in springtime - a mixture of pale pink and green metallic hexes in a clear base, and can be built to opacity in 3-4 coats.
• Holy Chick!: a white crelly base with pale blue and yellow hexes, and small iridescent glitter with a beautiful blue sparkle
• Cherry Blossom Bloom: where I live, there is a multi-week celebration of the Cherry Blossoms blooming. I wanted to create a shade to contribute to that celebration - Cherry Blossom Bloom is a clear base featuring white hexes and rectangles, with two sizes of fuschia circle glitter!
• Spring Fling - another wonderful part of spring is the return of bright blue skies and growth in nature. Spring Fling combines both of these with a bright blue base and small neon green glitter.
• Bunny Poop: a mix of multiple sizes of yellow, pink, green and blue pastel matte glitter in a clear base - the perfect spring glitter topper!

The Cure Starts Now

I am very proud to announce that a very special duo will be introduced during the launch/restock as well. I was approached by a wonderful foundation dedicated to eradicating cancer (with a focus on pediatric brain cancer), the Cure Starts Now, to donate to their annual gala. After we started chatting, we realized it would be great to create a custom duo that would also be sold at Lac Attack. All profits from sales of the two colors will be donated to the foundation. The colors are:

• The Cure Starts Now: based on the foundation's colors, a mixture of matte blue, purple, and yellow glitter in a clear base.
• Once in a Lifetime: also the theme of this year's gala, a circus-inspired color featuring a pale gold base with micro red metallic glitter.

International & Stockist Information

• The Magical Musings colors are now available for sale at Harlow & Co.! Most shades are currently sold out, but more will be on their way to Harlow soon.
• A selection of Lac Attack shades are currently heading to Beauty So Fly in Singapore, who are launching international shipping this week!

Magical Musings Restock Information

• All individual Magical Musings full-size colors will be restocked.
• A very limited number of full sets will also be available. You can sign up for the full set wishlist here to guarantee you'll be able to get your hands on a set. 
• Individual minis and sets will likely not be available during this restock. If they are, it will be in limited quantities. I am working on finding new mini bottles, as I have had some issues with the current ones.

IMPORTANT RESTOCK INFORMATION:

• The price of the sets has increased to reflect the higher shipping cost of shipping a full collection. Since the store reads a "set" listing as only one item, it only charges the shipping for one individual polish. The base price of sets is the exact same, I just had to change the listing cost to reflect shipping. 
• Magical Musings full size set: $83.00 ($80 per set, $3.00 additional shipping)
• Magical Musings mini size set: $43.00 ($40 per set discounted, $3.00 additional shipping)
• Candy Hearts Trio mini size set: $13.00 ($12 per set discounted, $1.00 additional shipping)
• International shipping (including Canada) has been increased to help offset the increased rates set by the USPS. I am still committed to maintaining low shipping prices.

December News & Magical Musings Launch

Hello my lovelies! I want to start by saying thank you so much for all of the positive feedback, interest, and support for the Magical Musings collection. I am so glad to share my passion for HP with other like minded individuals such as yourselves. Kirsten and I are honestly so happy and honored by your reactions!

Here are some random bits and pieces of info:

• The epic giveaway, which will consist of 1 full set each of all of my previous collections, will be launched after the new year. I plan to coincide it with the birthday of Lac Attack, as well as to celebrate over 1,000 Facebook likes and over 500 Twitter followers.

Magical Musings

You can view Kirsten's official review and swatches over at Glitta Gloves. Her swatches are descriptions are quite amazing, so I recommend checking it out!

Formula changes: Kirsten's review did mention that Holidays in Hogsmeade was lacking in the white hex department, so I tried to include more of those in the final batches.  I also noticed some visible curling of the glitters in The Horcrux of It... so I add some smaller hexes of the same shade. The final batch of Horcrux includes sparse large hexes and more of the smaller hexes. I also tried to make the final version a bit more opaque.

International shipping: international shipping will be available - the shop is currently undergoing "maintenance" so I can add and edit the listings and set up international shipping before the launch. International shipping will start at $5 USD, with each additional polish costing $0.50 USD. Please refer to my post here for more information about my policies.

Other notes: There will be a limited number of full-size and mini complete sets of Magical Musings available during the initial launch. I am waiting on an order of bottles and base to finalize, and hope to hold a second restock in December. The second restock will also be launched at a time more convenient for international buyers.

Holiday Shipping Dates

The following dates are the cut-off dates for orders to be received by Christmas. I used the dates provided by the U.S. Postal Service, then added from 2-5 days for processing on my end.

Lac Attack & Glitta Gloves present: the Magical Musings Collection!

Hey everybody! After months of plotting, planning, and cackling (?), Kirsten from Glitta Gloves and I are so excited to finally announce the Magical Musings collection. This collection was born out of a mutual obsession love of all things Harry Potter. We figured that the nail polish community needed a collection of colors that truly showcases the world of HP. For the non-fans - the collection still contains fun and beautiful colors for any nail polish lover. Plus, I do believe that this may be one of the first collaborations of the kind!

The collection will be available for sale, shipping internationally, on December 1st, 2012.

International Shipping Update

I have some news!

It appears as though I have found a system for international shipping. I have added Canada as a shipping option to the Goodsie store to test the system. If successful, I will open shipping to all international buyers.

Shipping to Canada starts at $3.00  $3.50 (as of 1/18/13) per cart/order, and $0.50 for each polish.
Shipping costs will start at $6.00 per cart, and $0.50 per polish.
        Updated costs as of 1/18/2013

Please note:

• Any additional customs or duty fees incurred will be the responsibility of the buyer
• Tracking will be offered when possible 
• It could take 2-6 weeks for your package to arrive
• Shipping costs account for both postage and packaging materials
• All polishes will be wrapped in bubble wrap, and larger orders will include extra wrap or cushioning to ensure safe transit

Fall 2012 Announcements!

Hello all! I have been busy striving to make Lac Attack even better, so I have quite a few announcements for you all:

1. If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen the picture of the new bottles. I will now be stocking square bottles, both full and mini size. I am very excited to debut these bottles in the next restock and upcoming collections!

2. In order to keep up with demand and make room for future colors, some polishes will be made available in limited quantities during the next restock, after which they will be discontinued. These polishes include:

• Wild Thing collection: Dance of the Flamingo, Decidedly Deciduous
• Summer Lovin' collection: T-Bird, Summer Lovin', The One that I Want
• Mattes & Music collection: Vegas Skies, Particle Man, Nerd Alert
• Core Colors: Blue Steel, Goldenrod

3. Due to the discontinuation and unruly temperament of certain glitters, the following polishes will be reformulated (only slightly):

• Jewel of the Nile
• Hell on Heels

4.  Going forward, every bottle of polish will have more glitter packed inside so that you are getting the most bang (and sparkle!) for your buck.

5. I am very excited to announce that a special limited edition polish will also be included in the next restock! The polish is named Mayan Goodbyin' after the "end of the world" as predicted by the end of the Mayan calendar. In keeping with the theme, this polish will only be available until December 21, 2012. Pictures to come!

6. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for the next collection announcement. It will be the biggest Lac Attack collection to date, and I am super excited to give you all of the details!

Update and Restock Information

Hello all! First, I want to say thank you again for all of the overwhelming support today.

I am unfortunately going to have to post-pone the restock until next Sunday July 22 at 5:00pm EST. I hate having to do this but I am overwhelmed and need to figure out a way to manage my full-time job (and one hour each way commute), Lac Attack, and a social life - all while preparing for graduate classes to start in a month.

Since I am the only person running this company, I need to make a few changes in order to maintain the quality of my business as well as my sanity.

1. For the time being, I am now only shipping to the USA. Shipping internationally, even to Canada, is both more expensive and time-consuming. I am working on researching different methods of shipping internationally, so this is a temporary change.
   
2. I will no longer sell polishes on Etsy. I was losing messages and racking up ridiculous fees. I have switched to Goodsie for my sales. Luckily, Goodsie allows integration with blogger, so I should be able to have a storefront directly on LacAttack.com ...assuming I can figure out the tech side of things ;)
3. Turnaround time after ordering will likely be a little bit longer as I get used to the new platform and my schedule. I will still aim to get orders out within 48 hours, but it could take from 3-5 days at first.
4. I am hoping to get to a place where I have stock available on a regular or semi-regular basis. I am currently working with a company on new bottles, and working on a schedule that will allow me to predict in advance when I will need to order new supplies. I am hoping that using Goodsie will lend itself to this as well.

Additionally, my e-mail server has deleted a huge chunk of Lac Attack emails and I am trying to recover them. However, if you have not been invoiced or contacted regarding an order or other customer service issue - send me another email. I would rather have duplicate emails and requests than lose someone in the shuffle.

I think that is all I needed to update you all on, but if there is anything else I will add it to the post.

Once again, I am sorry for any delays, confusion, or inconvenience you have experienced with Lac Attack lately. I am striving to make your experience with Lac Attack even better, so I appreciate that you bear with me as I make these changes.

And of course, thank you so much for your support and loyalty. You all are the reason I love making nail polish. Well, that and the glitter. :)

Quick Update

This is just a copy of the status I just put on Facebook, but I wanted to make sure the update was out there for everyone. Hopefully I will be able to post a more detailed update later today.


Hello all. I am feeling a little (read: a LOT) overwhelmed and stressed right now. I spent all day yesterday bottling polish and am not even close to having all polishes done that I want to restock.

I am going to continue working on bottling and copying listing information, but there is a chance that I may have to post-pone the restock. Hopefully I will also find time to write a blog post today with detailed information....

Also, naturally there was a problem with the post office yesterday so Canadian pre-orders have NOT yet been sent.

I am hoping to make the giveaway live today as well.

I am sorry for the constant delays and changes, but I am only one person and have a 40+ hour work week on top of running Lac Attack - a schedule I am still struggling to manage and get used to.

Mattes & Music Collection

Hey everyone!

So after receiving such positive feedback about Jewel of the Nile, Hell on Heels, and now Pink Lady - I have decided to release a collection consisting entirely of matte glitter topcoats!  The collection consists of 6 varied polishes with one thing in common: every polish contains matte/neon glitter as the main ingredient.

Not only is it very exciting to release an all-matte-glitter collection, but it is the first time I will be accepting pre-orders for the full collection before I release the individual polishes on Etsy.  I will include all of the pre-order information in a separate post.

Now, here are the pictures you've all been waiting for!

Pretty in Punk: micro blue and small pink hexes with medium purple and black hex glitters

Vegas Skies: neon/matte fine glitters in orange, purple, and green

Now that I’ve given you all some time to plan which of the Summer Lovin’ colors you love the most, I figured I should post a list of what will be going in the Etsy shop when I reopen.

If you happen to miss any polishes – please refrain from requesting a custom listing.  I just had to order more bottles, so there will be more of everything when I get those in!  Please don’t fret.  I know how crazy Etsy restocks can get and I will do my best to keep all "in demand" colors available on a regular basis.

Summer Lovin' Collection!

Hey there!  Today I finally finished bottling the first round of Summer Lovin' stock.  Then I spent a few hours swatching, taking pictures, and editing.  I'm so excited to show you the collection before I open shop again.  A few colors/names didn't work out or were replaced with some new ideas - but I think you'll all love the end result.  Which polish are you most excited for?
